CAGE Issues Tour wrap Up.

The 3 week tour Cage returned from was a great success, as they pre-released their SCIENCE OF ANNIHILATION cd at each show, prior to the street date. " It was an interesting strategy as many of the fans had never heard any of the songs from the new cd yet." says singer Sean Peck. "I think it worked out well as we sold out of the cds we took on the road and the shirts as well which we are very grateful to all those who showed up and rocked with us." Although one show in Warsaw was cancelled the rest of the tour went off without a hitch. Peck reflected on the Eastern European dates. " The promoter flaked on 2 of the shows but we managed to put together one of our own shows in the Czech Republic and jump on a show in Slovakia with a band called ROOT. That was a killer show but ROOT was a trip to watch ha! Peck goes on, " We really want to thank CLUSTERHEAD and DRAGONSFIRE for the great support and rocking good times! Those guys were both great bands and new metal comrades. Also all the European media that came out and showed support and especially Rock Hard and Heavy Mag for presenting the tour." The 3 week run was the first real tour CAGE has done in Europe as they had just played selected festivals before. " Headlining the Elements of Rock fest and the Mercenaries Metal meeting were both great shows. The Elements show was amazing and was a great way to end the run. It was the biggest show of the tour and meeting all those devoted fans was amazing. This was the first time we got to travel extensively and bring our live attack to people that had the records but never had seen what we do live and why we have developed the reputation we have as a vicious live act. We had to really pour it on to live up to the AMERICAN POWER METAL KINGS title but based on the fan reaction and live reviews we really blew some minds. When we set the tour up and showed our management the string of dates and the set list, our management said it was suicide! I had never sang that many shows in a row before so I was very careful to take care of myself and it paid off thank God! Despite warnings from management to tone down the set and put in more songs that were easier to play we said no! The metal must be at peak levels and the entire screamer set was left in. Some nights we played 2 hour long sets or so with all of our long epic songs in the set like the title track to the new record and WINGS OF DESTRUCTION." Peck continues, "A great experience and a fun ass time was had by all. We have some plans to maybe return on a second strike by the end of the year but if not the East Coast of the US is the next target." Peck commented on the number one position for the third time in a row on the HEAVY MAG soundcheck charts. " I was told that only KING DIAMOND had done that yet so although we are very honored by the cd of the month award again, it made us immediately begin writing for the next cd so we could somehow attempt to break the mighty KING's record." CAGE will be playing a string of shows in the Southwest in support of their new cd.

I HAVE TRACKED 3 SONGS SO FAR AND THEY ARE GETTING ME REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS NEW RECORD. DAVE AND ANTHONY CONTINUE TO LAY DOWN MASSIVE GUITAR TRACKS AND SOME BASS HAS BEEN PUT DOWN ALSO. AFTER I GET OVER THIS COLD I HAVE I PLAN TO DO ABOUT 4 DAYS PER WEEK IN THE STUDIO UNTIL ALL OF THE TRACKS ARE DONE. WE STILL HAVE 3 OTHER SONGS TO FINISH WRITING INCLUDING THE TITLE TRACK. SO THERE IS LOTS OF WORK STILL TO BE DONE BUT SO FAR THIS COULD BE ANOTHER CAGE MILESTONE. I HAVE PREVIEWED THE FIRST SONG WE FINISHED WITH A ROUGH MIX AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FREAKING OUT ON IT. THE SONG IS VERY KING DIAMOND LIKE, SOUNDWISE, STYLE WISE AND TOPICALY. IT IS KIND OF A HORROR TALE ROOTED IN SOME HISTORIC TRUTH. IT IS A BIT OF AN EPIC BUT THE 16-24 YEAR OLD METAL HEADS I PLAYED IT FOR SAID "BEST CAGE EVER" AND " I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOME CAGE LIKE THIS FOR YEARS!". WE STILL HAVE NOT RELEASED THE TITLE OF THE CD YET AND PROBABLY WON'T GET TO THAT UNTIL LATE THIS YEAR. THE COOL NEWS IS THAT IT IS LIKELY THAT WE WILL PLAY OUT TO SUPPORT THIS RECORD PROBABLY MORE WIDELY THAN EVER. I HAVE BEEN SO DISAPOINTED WITH THE POWER METAL THAT HAS COME OUT THIS YEAR THAT OUR MANTRA IS GOING TO BE ALL ABOUT PUTTING THE POWER BACK INTO POWER METAL. I CANNOT TAKE THE WIMPY, ARTSY, MELLOW, SUPER GAY RELEASES THAT HAVE COME OUT LATELY. WE WANT TO DRIVE OUR CARS FAST AND BANG OUR HEADS WITH FISTS IN THE AIR AND THAT IS WHAT THIS CD IS ALL ABOUT. I THINK BACK TO A TIME WHEN I WAS 16 YEARS OLD AND METAL FIRST BEGAN TO PUMP THROUGH MY VEINS, THAT IS WHERE WE ARE COMING FROM ON THIS. WE HOPE TO HAVE THE FIRST 8 SONGS COMPLETELY FINISHED BY MID NOVEMBER AND THEN BLAST OUT THE FINAL 3 OR 4 WHICH SOME WILL BE BONUS TRACKS. THERE WILL BE SO MUCH CAGE PRODUCT NEXT YEAR SO SAVE YOU GOLD, HAVE IT MELTED DOWN AND SELL IT TO A TRADER BECAUSE 2009 IS GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST CAGE YEAR YET!

RECORDING UPDATE 8/16/2008

We have begun formulating the theme and artwork is being developed already as we speak for this new thrasher. We are going to not release all the info on the cd like some bands who post something like "new riff almost written for 1 song!" That is totally overkill but we will leak some info to the faithful as we go along. What I can tell you is that this album is meant to be a back to basics metal fist raiser and head banger. We went all out producing and developing what many consider our finest work and a masterpiece HELL DESTROYER and with this release there will be no concept story. The music however has been pushed to yet another power metal boundary in my opinion. I think there will instantly be a massive upgrade in speed and drum fury as we are using beats that we have never done before which is really fresh. Keep it posted here for more details.
